Snake Bubbles

Thanks to Pinterest I have found a new, fun, dangerous science experiment that kids of all ages can do!

I found out about Snake Bubbles here and decided to try them ourselves!
The only things you will need are:
-an empty bottle for each person
 -towel/washcloth you can cut up
-rubber bands
-dish soap
-water
-a responsible adult

Cut the ends off of the bottles and cut a piece of the towel large enough to cover the bottom and enough overlap to go up the side a bit. Put the towel on the bottom of the bottle and secure with a rubber band.
Mix dish soap and water together in a flat container. We used a 2 soap to 1 water ratio as suggested by the previous blogger and it worked pretty well.
Dip the end of your bottle in the solution and blow. The bubbles will ooze out the end.So.Cool. It was a bit breezy here so they went flying through the yard and the kids had the best time chasing them all over!

CAUTION: THIS SOLUTION MAKES THE CONCRETE VERY SLICK AND CHILDREN GET EXCITED AND SLIDE AND FALL DOWN. WHEN THEY FALL DOWN THEY MIGHT KNOCK BUBBLE SOLUTION IN THEIR FACE AND GET IT IN THEIR EYE. THIS MIGHT LEAD TO THE PARENTS YELLING AT EACH OTHER IN THE FRONT YARD DECIDING HOW TO GET SOAP OUT OF A 5 YEAR OLD EYE.  SAID 5 YEAR OLD MIGHT SCREAM AND YELL UNTIL THROWN IN THE SHOWER (WITH ALL CLOTHES ON) TO HELP FLUSH THE SOAP FROM THE EYE. THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

Do it anyways....it is super-duper fun!!!!!!

May Fun

As May comes to a close, we wanted to update on our month! Calla and I celebrated our last day of school together. We had a wonderful year together and are looking forward to some summer fun before she moves on to a different adult to listen to! :)

Around 11PM one night this week the weather alert radio started going off. It proceeded to go off about every 20 minutes for the next hour and a half. In the meantime, we did get quite a pit of pea sized hail. It was SO LOUD in the children's bedrooms but neither one woke up! Thankfully!

 Enjoying their baked pancakes!

We got to go to the Circus that was here in town!

 The dogs that did tricks!

 Amazing Hula Hooping lady!

 Cute ponies!

 Silly strong man!

 Crazy acrobatic women!

Drake wanted to hold the camera!

He was swinging these large contraptions around and around! Pretty impressive!

The dogs that didn't perform very well!

 The beautiful elephant!

Two motorcycles in a sphere! Both children really liked this part!

First Half Marathon, 2012

I have successfully finished my first half marathon! A year ago, I faithfully tracked my friends that were running and thought, hey I would like to do this some day. Fast forward to the fall, I was successfully running 5-6 miles at a time and two of my half marathon friends told me that if I could run that far, I could easily do 13.1 miles. I.was.not.convinced.
In mid-December, I signed up for this race today. I looked at several training programs and decided on one. It was 12 weeks long, meaning I would start training in mid-February. No problem if you own a treadmill, I don't. Thankfully we had a very mild winter here and I had no problems running outside most days.
I would run 2-4 miles 3 days a week and then on Saturday mornings, I ran a longer distance. Until today, the longest run I had ever done was 12 miles and that was last week.
Thankfully we have something called adrenaline! What an exciting experience!

I am towards the middle of this picture, somewhere between mile 7 and 8. My parents and my children and husband came out to see me along the way and cheer me on! It was so awesome to know they were supporting me!!

I am reaching out to give Calla a high-5! She was yelling so loud!!

Here I am coming in to the finish. We finished on the 50 yard line of Memorial Stadium.

I successfully finished the race in 2 hours, 33 minutes, and 4 seconds!! My goal was 2 hours 30 minutes, so I am a tiny bit disappointed, but very proud of where I am today!
I run for me. I run because it makes me feel great. I run so I am healthier. I run because I love it. I run so hopefully my children will see how much I love it and want to be healthy and run with me someday.

Finishing=Winning

Ballet Emmanual

Over the weekend Calla got to be a real ballerina! She told me that when she blew a dandelion she had wished for it, and it came true. LOL!
The Ballet Emmanual came to town. They offered a free workshop on Friday evening and Saturday evening. Saturday evening ended with a performance of the real ballerinas and the up and coming ballerinas. Calla's group performed a dance to the Celtic Thunder version of A Place in the Choir. We have since downloaded it to the ipod and have done the dance at home 10298098098398427897 times!

When she arrived Friday evening, she got to choose a mask. She loved this elephant and even got to decorate it that night!

 They even had tails!

Paige & Adam's Wedding

My cousin, Paige, married her prince charming, Adam, last month! Drake was ill with the stomach flu, so he and Chad had to stay home. Calla had such a great time seeing family and getting her groove on!

Calla was dancing with the crowd!

 Shane and Edyn!

Calla was sooo excited she got to dance with the pretty bride!

 Uncle Jed and Calla!

Calla wanted to take a pic of me!

Calla was begging for her blanket, but did not want to leave the dance. I lined up two chairs and she fell asleep, even with all the noise!

Kindergarten Round-Up & Bubbles

Calla attended Kindergarten Round-Up last month! It was a super exciting evening for all of us. I will miss not having her with me all day, but I am anxious to watch her succeed!
The kids received bubbles for Easter and we have been blowing tons of bubbles in the living room! HA! Drake is OBSESSED with bubbles and asks every day for them!

He loves to hang out here!

before round-up

Another Easter Celebration!

On Easter evening, we celebrated with Chad's side of the family! It was just beautiful that evening and we had a fabulous time!!

Drake had fun showing Papa Mike his ballin' skillz!

 Papa also helped with bubbles!

Calla was excited to see Great Grandma Mona and show her the new pink Frisbee!

Grandma Karma created a treasure hunt that the cousins had to
explore! They loved it!

The treasures at the end of the hunt!

 Cousins :)

 Talking to Uncle Chris!

Eating his prize.
